Therapy for Shame, Trauma & Anxiety in Virginia

Shame can keep you stuck in patterns that once helped you survive but now leave you feeling anxious, disconnected, or overwhelmed. Therapy can help you understand those patterns, heal unresolved wounds, and move forward with more clarity, compassion, and connection.

Shame and trauma can show up in many ways

Patterns you may notice

• Perfectionism, overthinking, or second-guessing yourself
• People-pleasing, avoiding conflict, or keeping your guard up
• Procrastinating or feeling stuck despite your efforts to change
• Taking care of others while neglecting yourself

What you may be carrying

• Functioning on the outside while feeling overwhelmed internally
• Carrying the impact of past experiences that still affect you
• Holding chronic stress or tension in your body
• Longing to feel more steady, grounded, and like yourself again

My Approach

My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and collaborative. I draw from EMDR, IFS/parts-informed work, DBT-informed skills, and nervous system–based strategies to help you understand your patterns, regulate overwhelming emotions, and build a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

Therapy may include exploring shame and protective patterns, processing unresolved trauma, and developing practical tools for emotional steadiness and lasting change.
